In the face area, especially on the lips, we often use fillers called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is actually the building blocks in our body that show water retention. With the effect of age and environmental factors, this substance causes some changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, which manifests itself with loss of volume. Simply put, we aim to increase the amount of this water-holding molecule in our body with filler injections.
The most common area we apply is the lips. Lips are the symbol of attractiveness. It is the final touch in makeup. Therefore, voluminous lips proportional to your face will make you look more attractive. When you think of voluminous lips, don’t immediately think of exaggerated lips, it is of course possible to give the natural lip look you need with lip fillers that do not look exaggerated.
In addition to giving volume to the lips, lip augmentation is also used for shaping the lip contour, removing the upper lip lines, erasing the deep lines on the lips, and correcting lip asymmetries.
We apply local anesthetic creams before the lip augmentation process. Afterwards, we give the filler to the required depths and areas with small injections that can be said to be painless. Processing time is approximately 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, we can return to our normal life immediately. We see the effect of lip augmentation immediately. It may seem more swollen at first, but don’t let this scare you, it will reach the planned level in 1-2 days. Two-stage treatment may be recommended for patients who fear major change. I usually want to see our patient for retouching at the end of the 1st week. We do not prefer permanent lip filling applications in recent years. The permanence of lip fillers containing hyaluronic acid is approximately 6-18 months. It then disappears completely. Smoking, genetic factors and water consumption can cause changes in this period. Lip augmentation is a safe application, but it also has risks. It is especially important for safety that you trust the physician who performs this procedure and that the product used is a well-known CE certified product that has been used for a long time.
After the lip filler application, hard chewing movements, excessive facial expressions and eating and drinking something hot are prohibited for at least 2 hours, lipstick should not be applied.
